He has been arrested under sections of the PMLA Act in a land scam case in Pune. This case dates back to the time when Khadse was the revenue minister in the BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis government.

According to ED officials, Girish Chaudhary was called for questioning. He was arrested after about 13 hours of interrogation that lasted till late in the evening.

Eknath Khadse has been a senior OBC leader of BJP. He is considered close to the late Gopinath Munde. In the Fadnavis government too, he has been the revenue minister for nearly two years.

At the same time, he was accused of irregularities in the purchase of a plot of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) located in the Bhosari area of Pune.

In this case, a person named Hemant Gawande had accused Khadse of looting the government treasury.

In 2017, the Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) had registered a case against Khadse, along with his wife Mandakini, son-in-law Girish Choudhary and landowner Abbas Akani.
