ED raids Newsclick, Money Laundering Is Being Investigated. ED raids, money laundering are being investigated on-premises related to media establishment ‘Newsclick.’

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday raided the premises of the news portal- NewsClick and its promoters in a money laundering case.

The raids were carried out at eight places in Saidulazab and Gurugram in south Delhi. The Enforcement Directorate has initiated an investigation into money laundering, taking cognizance of the Delhi Police’s FIR in the case.

DIGIPUB, the apex organization of web news institutions, termed the probe agency’s action as an attack on the press, while sources in the ED said the raids were conducted to raise evidence in connection with the investigation into the allegations.

Agency’s action on eight locations in Delhi and Gurugram

This investigation is being done about the role of a company which was closed two years ago in foreign funding and Rs 30 crore transactions.

There is also an activist under investigation. The establishment has stated on its official website that Newsclick is an independent media institution covering news from India and elsewhere, focusing on progressive movements.

Its founder and editor are Prabir Purkayastha and editor Pranjal. By the way, this institute is considered to be of leftist ideology.

Pranjal said that raids started from the morning itself. Our homes have also been searched. We are cooperating with them and will do so further. They are scanning the documents. They have also given us notice.

Police personnel will get charge of a senior post in Madhya Pradesh, government-issued notification

In the police department, the way has been cleared to give charge of senior posts to policemen. The state government on Tuesday amended the Police Regulation Act 72 and issued a notification to this effect.

Now the constable can be given the charge of head constable, head constable as assistant sub-inspector, assistant sub-inspector as sub-inspector, and sub-inspector as inspector.

Policemen will be able to wear uniforms according to the post to which they will be given charge. According to the notification, the charge will be given in case of a vacancy.

This system will continue until the path of promotion is cleared. Right now the matter of reservation in promotion is pending in the Supreme Court, so the government has made alternative arrangements.

8,250 posts of head constable vacant

It is known that in the state, 8,250 posts of head constables, 5,175 assistant police inspectors, 1,335 sub-inspectors, and 800 posts of inspectors are vacant in the police, special armed forces, radio, etc.

In two years, about two thousand policemen of Madhya Pradesh Police have retired without promotion. As of now, in the Police Regulation Act 72, the Assistant Sub Inspector was given the charge of Sub Inspector.

Now the constable can be given the charge of the inspector to the head constable and sub-inspector. It will also have the advantage that the number of investigating officers will increase and the disposal of pending cases will be expedited.
