One of the three terrorists who had infiltrated from across the border about 15 days ago was killed by the security forces in a fierce encounter in Badipora in North Kashmir on Wednesday.

At present, a military operation is going on against his two other fellow terrorists.

Meanwhile, in Mirhama of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, security forces surrounded three terrorists and engaged in an encounter.

This is the second encounter in Anantnag in the last 24 hours. Earlier on Tuesday, two Lashkar terrorists were killed by security forces in Kariri of Anantnag.

According to the information, a team of terrorists armed with automatic weapons had allegedly infiltrated Kashmir a few days ago from POK via Gurez, Badipore.

The security forces, monitoring the activities of this team, started their siege and surrounded them in the Salindar forest of Badipora on Wednesday afternoon.

The terrorists tried to escape from there by firing on the soldiers. The soldiers also retaliated.

After firing for about an hour, the jawans recovered the body and weapons of a terrorist riddled with bullets from the encounter site.

During this, the other two terrorists came out to escape from there. Kashmir IGP Vijay Kumar said that the terrorist killed in the Badipora encounter is a member of a recently infiltrated terrorist squad.

He has been identified as Gulzar Ahmed Ganai, a resident of Wussankhul near Pattan in district Baramulla.

He had gone to Pakistan to become a terrorist in the year 2018 and returned after almost three and a half years to create bloodshed in Kashmir.

He along with some other terrorists had infiltrated Kashmir during the last week of April. The search is on for his fellow two other terrorists.

According to information received from Anantnag, the police, along with the army and CRPF personnel, conducted a search operation for information about the hiding of terrorists in Mirhama, Bijbihara.

When the security forces started a search while laying siege, the terrorists hiding in one place started firing on them.

The soldiers retaliated while defending themselves and then the encounter started. Concerned officials said that two to three terrorists are trapped in the siege.

The terrorists have also been given an opportunity to surrender, but they are firing continuously. All routes for the terrorists to escape have been closed.
