Gangster Vikas Dubey, wanted for the killing of 8 police officers in Kanpur, has been gunned down in encounter after he supposedly attempted to escape when a vehicle in the special task force (STF) team taking him from Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain to Uttar Pradesh’s Shivli upset in Kanpur.

The history-sheeter, blamed for orchestrating a destructive snare at a police party outside his Bikru townhome, was arrested outside Mahakal mandir in the Holy city of Ujjain on Thursday in the wake of buying prasad and a section pass to the holy place, finishing a six-day manhunt.

Conveying an award of Rs 5 lakh for data prompting his capture, the criminal had been on the run since last Friday night when a police party, which had gone to capture him from his home in Bikru town in the Chaubeypur territory of Kanpur, was trapped.

The gathering was trapped in a hail of gunfire from housetops, which left eight police officers, including a DSP, dead. Police say he has been a prime denounced in nearly 60 criminal cases in the course of his life, including murders. He was blamed for killing a BJP MLA in a police station 20 years back however was absolved for the absence of proof.

Commending Ujjain police for capturing Dubey, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan tweeted, “The individuals who feel that in the wake of setting off to the Mahakal Mandir, their crimes will be cleared out, they don’t think about the Mahakal. Our government won’t spare any criminal.”

Chouhan said he addressed his Uttar Pradesh partner Yogi Adityanath after the arrest. The MP police will hand over Dubey to Uttar Pradesh police, he included. Hours after Dubey’s capture, his better half, son, and a hireling were held by the Uttar Pradesh STF in Lucknow.

Gangster’s better half Richa Dubey was captured from her Krishna Nagar residence on Thursday evening by a group of the special task force (STF) on charges of holding the gangster and scheming with him, police sources said. The Gangster’s son and a hireling were likewise arrested, sources said.

Richa is said to have upheld Dubey in his unlawful exercises. She is purportedly the part of the plan that prompted the murdering of eight police officers at Kanpur’s Bikru town on July 3. She had associated her cell phone to a CCTV camera introduced in their now-annihilated house at Bikru town and watched out for the exercises there even from her nonappearance. Richa had disappeared following the Kanpur trap.
