Grenade explodes near LoC in Mendhar sector, one officer and JCO martyred in the incident: Jammu and Kashmir.
The sad news is coming out from Jammu and Kashmir.
Last night, an accidental grenade exploded when soldiers were performing their duty along the Line of Control in the Mendhar sector of Poonch district here.
Many soldiers have been injured in this explosion. An officer and a JCO died during treatment.
PRO Defence, Jammu has confirmed this. Four other jawans are said to be injured in this incident and are undergoing treatment in the hospital.
An army official said that the blast occurred when soldiers were patrolling along the Line of Control in the Mendhar sector, in which six army personnel, including an officer and a JCO, were injured.
All the injured were immediately airlifted to Army Command Hospital, Udhampur. During treatment here, an officer and a JCO died.
The soldiers who were martyred have been identified as Captain Anand and Naib Subedar Bhagwan Singh. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered in this matter.
Earlier yesterday, terrorists ambushed the Gangu area of Pulwama district and started firing on the joint Naka party of Police and CRPF. CRPF’s ASI Vinod Kumar was injured in this attack.
He died during treatment in the hospital. According to the Jammu and Kashmir Police, terrorists hiding in an apple orchard opened fire on the joint Naka party of CRPF and Police.
Officers pay tribute to the mortal remains of Vinod Kumar at CRPF RTC Humhama, Srinagar. Special DG CRPF, Daljit Singh Choudhary said that in an unfortunate incident, ASI Vinod Kumar lost his life.
Grenade explodes near LoC: We will make all efforts so that the matter can be resolved at the earliest and strict action can be taken against all the accused responsible for this.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha tweeted and paid tribute to CRPF jawan Vinod Kumar.
He wrote, ‘I salute the bravery and supreme sacrifice of ASI Vinod Kumar of CRPF in the line of duty. My deepest condolences to the bereaved family.
Strongly condemn the heinous terrorist attack on a Naka party in Pulwama. Our security forces will give a befitting reply to the criminals.
