Earlier on Sunday morning, in the presence of a heavy police force on the orders of the High Court, the municipal corporation destroyed the over 50-year-old Hanuman temple on the main road of Chandni Chowk.

They removed the idols from the temple and have kept them near the town hall. This temple was located on the Fatehpuri Masjid main road from the Lal Jain Temple.

The politics of Delhi has also become hot in this rain and cold weather due to the demolition of the temple.

Accusations have intensified in the ruling Aam Aadmi Party in the Delhi government and the ruling BJP in the Northern Municipal Corporation.

Both are blaming each other for breaking the temple. The redevelopment work at Chandni Chowk is being done by Shahjahanabad Redevelopment Corporation (SRDC), which comes under the Delhi government.

A high-level delegation of VHP, headed by Chief Advocate Alok Kumar, met the Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Monday regarding the demolition of the temple and has sought an appeal in the High Court regarding the matter.

Taking care of the religious sentiments of the people, Alok Kumar has also demanded the Lt. Governor to build a temple at the same place.

The protest is held at Chandni Chowk on Tuesday morning from 11:00 am, claiming the presence of hundreds of people.

There has been an atmosphere of excitement throughout the day in Chandni Chowk for the demolition of the temple on Monday.

There were shocks with people expressing resentment and with police and paramilitary personnel posted in security. And there were also efforts to close the market.
