Heavy rain due to cyclone

Due to the impact of Cyclone Ian, heavy rain was recorded in Florida and the area up to the southeast Atlantic coast. Officials have confirmed at least one death from the cyclone in Florida.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that a 72-year-old man was found dead in a canal behind his home early Thursday in Deltona, near Daytona Beach.

Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno told ABC Channel that his office has been receiving hundreds of calls from the county for help, but is facing problems with roads and bridges being cut off.

Ian turns into a tropical storm

The National Cyclone Center (NHC) said Ian intensified into a tropical storm early Thursday and is likely to emerge as a hurricane over the Atlantic waters near the Kennedy Space Center later in the day.

It has been predicted that the next stop of the cyclone will be in South Carolina, America.

In Port Charlotte, off the coast of Florida, the cyclone caused waterlogging on the ground floor of a hospital and damaged the roof of the fourth floor where the ICU is located.

Dr. Barjit Bodine, who works at HCA Florida Fassett Hospital in Port Charlotte, said on Wednesday that water reached the hospital’s ICU, causing critically ill staff to be evacuated and some of them to other floors.
