Indian army team left for a military exercise with Sri Lanka, exercise will run till 15 October.

The Indian army team has left for the joint military exercise between India and Sri Lanka.

The eighth edition of Joint Exercise Mitra Shakti 2021 will be conducted from October 4 to 15 at the Combat Training School, Ampara, Sri Lanka.

The Defense Ministry said in a statement that a contingent of 120 Indian Army personnel along with a battalion of the Sri Lankan Army will participate in the exercise.

“The objective of the exercise is to promote closer ties between the armies of the two countries and to share best practices in counter-terrorism operations,” the statement said.

The ministry said that this exercise will help in further strengthening the ties between the two South Asian nations.

Along with this, it will act as a catalyst in bringing synergy and cooperation between the two armies at the ground level.

The seventh edition of Exercise Mitra Shakti was conducted in 2019 at the Foreign Training Node (FTN) in Maharashtra.

It is important in this that the United Nations General Assembly has said that by next year 70 percent of the population of every country in the world is required to be vaccinated.
