Indian Women Cricket Team May Visit Australia In September

Indian women cricket team may go to Australia in September, to play ODIs and T20 matches. The Indian women cricket team is expected to visit Australia in September.

The Indian team, which has played only one series in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, will visit England next month to play the first Test in seven years.

On the tour of England, the team has to play three ODIs and as many T20 matches as well. Australian fast bowler Megan Shute indicated that the Indian team could tour the country in September.

Cricket Australia has not yet confirmed the schedule. One-day and T20 matches are expected to be played on this tour.

“We have to play a series against India in the middle of September,” said Shute. Therefore some camps will be organized. I think one will be in Darwin, where it will be quite cold and then there will be a series against India.

After this there will be Big Bash, Ashes, World Cup and hopefully Commonwealth Games.

The BCCI, in its last meeting of its apex council, also approved a tour to Australia ahead of next year’s World Cup in New Zealand. The home series against the West Indies was also approved.

The tour to Australia was initially scheduled to take place in January this year, but was also postponed after the World Cup was postponed until 2022 amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

On the other hand, Indian women cricketers have been without a contract since 30 September 2020 and they do not know whether they will be able to sign the new annual contract by the time they take flight for the tour of England on 2 June.

In this tour, the Indian women’s team has to play one Test, three ODIs and three T20s. This only Test will be India’s first Test in nearly seven years.

A BCCI official said that the matter is being looked after by the office of Secretary Jai Shah. The Indian team for the tour of England was announced on Friday night and the players have been asked to gather in Mumbai on 18 May.

It is believed that the Indian players will go through a two-week quarantine like the male players, after which the entire team will leave for Britain on a charter flight.
