In Koragere village of Tumakuru district of Karnataka, reports of a boycott of an inter-caste marriage couple by an upper-caste community have come to the fore.

The couple is married for 14 years. The abused couple Nagaraju and Sasikala submitted a complaint in this regard to Tumakuru Superintendent of Police Rahul Kumar Shahpurwad on Saturday.

The Superintendent of Police has assured him that he will visit the village and solve the problem in two days.

Nagaraju and Sasikala, residents of Koragere village, married against the wishes of the family in 2007 after a love affair. Nagaraju comes from a so-called lower caste.

After marriage, the couple started living in the same village. Both husband and wife work as laborers and cultivate a small amount of land.

After years of hard work, he built a house and also bought some agricultural land. Seeing a woman of her own caste living with a man from a backward caste, the upper caste people created a problem.

Picked up Nagaraju and beat him up without any reason. After this, the villagers boycotted both of them.

On the other hand, the special team probing the Mysuru gang rape case has recorded the statement of the victim’s friend.

Police sources said on Friday that the victim’s friend told about the horrific incident that they had to go through on August 24.
