The organization also started a campaign called “Because I am a girl”. The Canadian government was approached to expand the campaign internationally.
The Government of Canada placed this resolution in the 55th General Assembly and on 19 December 2011, the United Nations passed the resolution.
The date of 11 October was fixed for International Day of the Girl Child and it has been celebrated every year since 2012.
