Jaishankar talks to German Foreign Minister Maas on Afghan crisis challenges to evacuate people from Kabul.

EAM S Jaishankar on Saturday held talks with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas on the latest situation in Afghanistan and the challenges of emergency evacuation of people from Kabul.

We discussed the challenges of evacuating people from Afghanistan and the issues related to change in the situation there.

India is in constant touch with the US, UK, and other powers regarding the rapidly changing situation in Afghanistan after the Taliban capture of Kabul on Sunday evening.

Challenge to evacuate people from Kabul airport.

In view of the chaos around Kabul airport, many other countries including India are facing challenges in evacuating people from there.

US Army gives permission to operate two Indian flights daily from Kabul.

India has been allowed to operate two flights daily from Kabul to evacuate its citizens stranded in Afghanistan. Government sources gave this information.

American and NATO forces have been given the responsibility for the operation and control of Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport since its occupation of Afghanistan on August 15.

Government sources said two Indian aircraft would be allowed to operate from the Kabul airport, which is currently under the control of US security forces.

A total of 25 flights are being operated by them, as they are currently focused on evacuating their civilians, weapons, and equipment.

India today evacuated 150-200 Indians from Kabul via NATO, they have been shifted to some other destinations and will probably be taken to India in a day or two.

India has so far evacuated 450 to 500 Indians from Kabul in the last 6 days.

More than 300 Indian citizens are to be evacuated from Kabul, which is now under Taliban control. India is airlifting its citizens to Tajikistan through Dushanbe and Qatar.

An Air India flight with around 90 passengers is expected to land in India shortly. Indian passengers were evacuated from Kabul in a C130J aircraft.

With great difficulty, 85 Indians were airlifted to Tajikistan’s capital Dushanbe by a special Air Force aircraft on Friday night.
