Kerala Finance Minister Said – CAG Trying To Discredit KIIFB

Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Issac said – try to discredit KIIFB on the pretext of CAG audit. The Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) seems to be holding the case for financial irregularities.

In view of the intervention of the Controller and Auditor General (CAG), Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Issac said in the Legislative Assembly today that the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KAIIFB) audits were conducted earlier.

The government is not against any auditing, but a constitutional body like the CAG should not try to discredit the KIIFB.

This time, the CAG acted with wrong intentions. He further said that some people are unable to accept that the state is trying for development with the funding of KIIFB.

The Finance Minister said this while answering questions during the Question Hour in the Kerala Legislative Assembly. Further, he rejected the second phase of KIIFB and said that now the government’s focus is on timely completion of the projects.

Some projects are delayed, requiring land acquisition. Some projects are under work in various stages and some have already been completed. We believe that all projects will be in the working stage within a year.

On a question about treasury fraud, he said that it is one of the best software managed by the National Informatics Center (NIC) in Kerala. But we are ready to conduct a security audit by an external agency.

The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) then walked out of the Kerala Legislative Assembly over corruption in the Life Mission Project, a housing scheme for the poor.

Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala then intervened, alleging that it was a tactic to divert attention from the ruling party’s issues to raise questions against UDF MLAs.
