A lady (SI) police sub-inspector has been captured for supposedly taking kickbacks of Rs 20 lakh from an assault blamed for not charging him under the Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act, police said on Sunday.
Shweta Jadeja, who was the responsible for Mahila police headquarters in Ahmedabad-West, had supposedly requested Rs 35 lakh from the sibling of Kunal Shah, against whom she was exploring an assault case enrolled in 2019, a police official said.
She requested the cash for not booking Shah under arrangements of the Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act(PASA) Act, where the police can send a charged to a prison outside his local region, he said.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) stopped by the city crime branch, Jadeja acknowledged Rs 20 lakh through an agent and requested an extra Rs 15 lakh from the assault case blamed. The complainant gave Rs 20 lakh to Jadeja in February, and she was driving him to pay the rest of the sum, the FIR said.
She was captured on Friday and an argument was enlisted against her under the Anticipation of Debasement Act, the authority said. She was on Saturday delivered under the steady gaze of a meetings court where police looked for her remand for seven days.
The court, nonetheless, allowed three-day remand to the police for additional examination, open examiner Sudhir Brahmbhatt said. “The primary concern is the police need to recuperate Rs 20 lakh acknowledged by the blamed.
