Langdi And Dussehri Challenge Pakistani Mangoes In Gulf

Langdi and Dussehri challenge Pakistani mangoes in Gulf countries, Amrapali and Mallika also have increased threat in the global market. During the Corona epidemic, when the air cargo service was closed for export, Indian mango exporters did a great job.

Mango exporters shipped their mangoes to the Gulf countries by sea rather than by air. Domestic langdi, Dussehri, Mallika, and Chausa have given a tough challenge to Pakistan in the traditional Gulf countries market.

Scientists, export agencies, and leading mango farmers along with mango exporters also participated in the virtual national seminar organized at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI).

During this, Nadeem Siddiqui, president of Uttar Pradesh Mango Export Association, said, ‘There are many obstacles in the way of Indian mango exports. If it is overcome, the threat of our mangoes will increase globally. Air cargo exports are expensive.

That is why the airplanes were closed during Corona, so we caught the sea route and were successful in it. As a result, Pakistan’s mango exporters were challenged severely in major Gulf countries like Dubai, Oman, and Saudi Arabia.

There is a dire need to constantly build a strong strategy to beat Pakistan and cut the cost of exports. Mohammed Bilal, the second mango exporter, said, ‘There is a great desire for government export agencies to increase exports to the United States along with European countries.

That is why all the rules and standards are made in the same way, which causes a lot of difficulties to the mango exporters. Size, the weight of mangoes, and whatnot. Whereas the need should be exported as per need. There is a need to reduce costs to deal with a rival like Pakistan.

IARI director and scientist Dr. AK Singh stressed to all the parties that mango species are ready according to the kind of quality mangoes are needed to compete internationally. A mango species with a beautiful complexion and thick peels with less sweetness has been prepared to overcome neighboring Pakistan in mango exports.

Major species prepared in Pusa are Mallika, Purnima, Surya, Pratibha, Shrestha, Lalima, Pitambara, Deepshikha, and Pusa Manohari. During the discussion, the full emphasis of the representative of APEDA was on increasing mango exports to Australia and the United States along with European countries.

There is a demand for mangoes in these countries like Indian Alphons, Saffron, Baganapally, langdi. During this time, the emphasis was laid on processing pulp and dry mango candy by processing mangoes. About two hundred people took part in it from abroad.
