In Jammu and Kashmir, the investigative agencies have got a big success in the campaign being run against the terrorists.

Talking about absconding terrorists, according to the official, out of total 734 fugitives including 417 in Kashmir and 317 in Jammu, 327 were wanted in TADA and Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) cases.

In these cases, SIA has so far verified and identified 369 absconders. It has been said by the official that 215 terrorists have been arrested in Jammu and 154 in Kashmir.

Zero terrorism has to be achieved in Jammu and Kashmir.

In pursuance of the mandate to achieve “Zero Terrorism” in J&K, SIA has launched a special drive to trace all absconders in terrorism related cases and bring them before the court.

Officials said that out of 369 verified fugitives, 80 terrorists have been killed. 45 are living in Pakistan or POK and other countries. Of these, 127 terrorists have not been traced and four are lodged in jails.

Government employee also caught.

The official said that the eight absconders arrested were involved in terrorist and disruptive activities and cases were registered against them under TADA in different police stations of Doda district three decades back and charge sheets were filed in TADA court Jammu. A

ll of them had fled before being arrested.

The bigger thing is that there are some fugitives who were involved in government services. Apart from this, some people also have their own business and some used to work in the courts as well.

Those arrested have been identified as Adil Farooq Faridi of Jammu, a government employee currently posted in the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education, Ishfaq Ahmed, who was working as a writer in the Doda court complex , Mohammad Iqbal, Mujahid Hussain, Tariq Hussain, Ishtiaq Ahmed Dev, Ejaz Ahmed and Jameel Ahmed all these fugitives have been caught.

Active from 1991 to 1993.

The officer said that he will be produced before the TADA/POTA court in Jammu in compliance with the warrant issued against him.

He said the captured terrorists were involved in various terrorist activities between 1991 and 1993, including murders, kidnapping for ransom, inciting people to violence by planting falsehoods during prayer meetings and torture at gunpoint.

His name was also included in an FIR after the recovery of a huge quantity of arms and ammunition in Shambaz area of Doda on June 22, 1994.

The officer said that all these fugitive terrorists had fled to escape the law. How they were living a normal life for so long will also be investigated by the FIR.
