Mangaluru Auto Blast: Three cases are already registered against the accused, investigation of the case can be handed over to NIA.

The family of Mohammad Shariq, accused in the Mangaluru autorickshaw blast in Karnataka, reached Father Muller Hospital on Monday.

Accused Mohammad Shariq is admitted to this hospital. The house of the accused was searched on Saturday.

Police said that a preliminary investigation indicated that he had terror links. The blast incident happened just months before elections in Mangaluru, 370 km from the state capital Bengaluru.

At the same time, according to sources, there is a possibility of handing over the investigation of this case to the NIA.

Giving more details of the incident, ADGP Law and Order Alok Kumar said that a passenger was carrying a bag containing a cooker bomb.

It exploded, causing burn injuries to the passenger as well as the auto driver. The auto driver is Purushottam Pujari and the passenger has been identified as Sharik.

He said that earlier there were three cases against the accused. Two cases are going on in Mangaluru city and one in Shivamogga.

The accused has been booked under UAPA in two cases and is wanted in the third case. Accused Shariq is absconding for a long time.

Explosive material was found.

Law and Order ADGP said that when the premises were searched, a large number of explosive materials, matchboxes, nut bolts, and circuits were found.

We have traced its sources as some purchases were made online and some others offline. We are working on its investigation.

Family members can also be questioned.

In the Mangaluru autorickshaw blast case, Commissioner of Police N Shashi Kumar said that if they (family members) tell that this is the person we are suspecting, then the family members will also be questioned.

Also said that one male and three female members of the family have met him. The investigation of this matter is going on.

Police told the terrorist incident, and central agencies are also investigating.

The police have disclosed the whole matter. On Sunday, the police claimed that the suspect has been identified as Mohammad Shariq (24). He was absconding since September 2022.

Police confirmed that it was a terrorist incident with the intent to cause grievous hurt. The Karnataka Police is probing it along with central agencies.

The police said that Sharik was not fit to give a statement. The injured auto driver is also in the hospital.
