Marrasat Alam Bhat Is The New Chairman Of Hurriyat Conference

Marrasat Alam Bhat has been made the new chairman of Hurriyat. Hurriyat gets the new chairman 7 days after Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s death.

Seven days after the death of separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, the All Party Hurriyat Conference has finally got a new chairman.

Extremist Marrasat Alam Bhat has been made the new chairman of Hurriyat. Along with this, many other changes have been made in Hurriyat.

The new chairman, Marsat Alam, is affiliated with the Muslim League. Fifty-year-old Alam is currently imprisoned in Tihar Jail.

After Geelani’s death, there was confusion about the new chairman. Many big Hurriyat leaders were not ready to take over the post of chairman.

The Hurriyat’s dominance is now negligible in Kashmir since the security forces’ strictness against the separatists.

In such a situation, it was also feared that with the death of Geelani, the existence of Hurriyat would almost end.

But now an attempt is being made to register its presence again by handing over the command of the Hurriyat to the radical Mersrat Alam, who is said to be the architect of the violent protests in the years 2008 and 2010. Alam was jailed on 17 April 2015.

He is not expected to be released from prison yet. Not only this but many Muslim organizations also do not like Marsarat Alam.

On the other hand, Hurriyat has appointed Shabbir Ahmed Shah and Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar as new vice-chairmen of Hurriyat.

Maulvi Bashir Ahmad Irfani will continue as General Secretary as before. All committees of Hurriyat will work on the guidelines of Vice-Chairman Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar.

This interim arrangement has been made as per the Hurriyat constitution till the elections are held. Hurriyat has claimed that as soon as the situation improves, elections will be held.

While burying Geelani, both sons stayed away from the cemetery, showed loyalty to Pakistan.

The sons of radical separatist Syed Ali Shah Geelani proved their loyalty to Pakistan instead of paying respect to their late father.

Both deliberately stayed away from the cemetery at the time of the burial of their father. All religious rituals have also been completed before the burial of the dead body.

Refuting the rumors being spread in this context, the police have also released a video that confirms that Geelani’s body had been gusla (bath).
