Mehbooba Said Her Party Will Not Participate In The Elections
Mehbooba said her party will not participate in the elections until Article 370 is restored.
On Friday, a day after attending an all-party meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti was again seen chanting Article 370.
She said that till Article 370 is not restored, I will not participate in the elections.
In a conversation with a TV channel, Mehbooba said that if elections are held in Jammu and Kashmir without the restoration of Article 370, then I will not contest.
PDP will contest the elections and even if my party wins the election, I will not be the chief minister.
Referring to the meeting with the Prime Minister, Mehbooba said that the PM has talked about returning statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, but has not clarified when it will be given.
She said that some confidence-building steps need to be taken before the election process in Jammu and Kashmir.
The government should take the people into confidence, some amicable steps need to be taken to instill a sense of confidence in them.
The former Chief Minister said that the killing of a terrorist can be called the success of the operation of the security forces, but it is not the success of the government.
It must be thought that what is the reason why Kashmiri youth is taking up guns.
We have to reach out to the common people, understand their sentiments, only then there will be a decrease in the recruitment of local youth in terrorist organizations.
Mehbooba said that the talks with the Prime Minister took place in a very good atmosphere.
The Prime Minister has said that the distance of Delhi has to be removed and I hope that he will fulfill his point and the people of Jammu and Kashmir will breathe a sigh of relief.
She said that the common people did not expect delimitation or elections from this meeting, they were thinking something different.
She felt that the government would put a stop to all such decisions, which would end the fear and fear of common Kashmiris.
People in Kashmir feel that there will be another partition of Jammu and Kashmir, that Kashmiris are being made a minority, this apprehension should be dispelled.
The PDP President said that in the meeting we have raised the issue of the release of political prisoners.
She said that if talks can be held with Pakistan for the restoration of the war, then there should be talks with Pakistan on other issues as well.
This will create a congenial atmosphere here. I have also raised the issue of citizenship of Pakistani wives of Kashmiri youth with the Prime Minister.
