Both the slain terrorists are said to be local and were linked to al-Badr. Confirming the killing of both the terrorists, IG Kumar Vijay Kumar said that he was given a chance to surrender but he did not accept it.

At the same time, to confirm if more terrorists are present in the area, the army has just conducted a search operation in the area.

According to the information received from the police, on Friday, on the basis of information received from reliable sources, the army started a search operation in the Kanigam area.

The terrorists hiding in a house saw the security forces coming close to them and started firing on them.

Although the security forces asked both the terrorists to surrender before retaliating, the terrorists continued to fire on the security forces, not accepting the matter.

Late evening, a militant was killed by security forces. In the dark, the security forces made special arrangements in the area so that the terrorists could not escape.

Once again in the morning, the security forces gave the hidden terrorist a chance to surrender but he again opened fire. At around 11 am, the security forces also killed another terrorist.

After the killing of the two terrorists, the security forces captured their bodies and also recovered their weapons lying at the site of the encounter.

After this, when the security forces started the search operation due to the fear of the presence of more terrorists in the area, some anti-national elements also threw stones at them.

However, the security forces drove the pelted youth from the encounter site.

At present, the search operation of security forces is going on in the area. On the other hand, IG Kashmir Vijay Kumar confirmed the killing of both the terrorists and said that both the terrorists killed are local.

He was associated with al-Badr. SOG, 34 RR, and CRPF personnel of the army were involved in the campaign.

Two army personnel were also injured during the encounter. As precautionary internet service has been discontinued in the district Shopian.
