Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took a big decision after the shooting in America

Canada’s government on Monday introduced a law to enforce a ‘national freeze’ on the sale and purchase of handguns, which would also limit magazines’ capacity and ban some toys that look like guns.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced a ban on handgun ownership in the country.

This would effectively ban their importation and sale following the recent mass shootings in the United States.

Let us tell you that 21 people, including 19 children, were killed in a school shooting in Texas, USA.

Condoling the incident, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris had called for strict action against the culprits.

Trudeau said in a statement that the number of Canadians killed in gun violence is too high.

He said ‘I have well seen the tragic cost of gun violence in our communities across the country.

Today, we are proposing some of the strongest measures in Canadian history to take guns out of our communities and build a safer future for all.’

To ensure that a national freeze on handguns can be implemented swiftly, Canada’s minister of public safety has already introduced regulatory amendments in both the House of Commons and the Senate.

“These rules will help curb the development of individually owned handguns in Canada and are expected to come into force in the fall of 2022,” the government said.
