Mufti Mustafa’s Wife And Brother Detained For Terror Links

Mufti Mustafa’s wife and brother were detained for having links with the terrorist organization: Assam.

The wife and brother of Mufti Mustafa, who runs a madrasa in Assam’s Morigaon district, were detained by the police on Saturday.

Mustafa has been arrested for having links with the Bangladeshi terrorist organization Ansarul Islam.

A senior official said law enforcement officials had raided the Jamiul Huda madrassa in Soruchola village on the intervening night of July 27 and 28 and arrested Mufti Mustafa, who operated it.

Morigaon Superintendent of Police Aparna Natarajan told reporters here, “Mufti Mustafa’s wife Amina Khatoon and brother Zakaria Ahmed have been taken into custody to collect evidence and they are being interrogated.”

There are allegations of various financial transactions related to the organization and indulging in anti-national activities.

Many serious allegations against Mufti who runs a madrasa.

Amiruddin Ansari and Mamoon Rashid were arrested a few months back from Kolkata and Barpeta respectively and were identified as members of Ansarul Islam.

Natarajan told that Mustafa had done many financial transactions with these two since 2019 till now.

The investigation also revealed that Mustafa had given shelter to a “wanted person” from another country in the madrasa. Natarajan told that Mustafa’s bank accounts have been confiscated.

A case under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) has been registered against Mustafa at Moirabari police station.

The police have also detained seven teachers of another madrassa.

Let us inform you that earlier 8 people arrested for their involvement in Islamic Jihadi activities in Assam were sent to police custody on Friday.

He had links with the Ansarul Bangla team and AQIS of Bangladesh. Earlier 11 people were detained out of which 8 were arrested.

The 8 accused arrested were involved in jihadi activities in Madhya Pradesh and Tripura.
