Muzaffar Hussain Baig Resigned From PDP

Muzaffar Hussain Baig, one of the founding members of PDP, broke away from the party: Jammu Kashmir.

Expressing displeasure over the seat-sharing in the People’s Alliance for Group Dikkareshn (PAGD) over the ongoing District Development Council (DDC) elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Peoples Democratic Party’s patron Muzaffar Hussain Baig on Saturday completely broke his connection from the organization.

He said that I had abandoned both the primary membership of PDP and the guardian post of PDP.

He said that I respect Farooq Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, and others, but the matter is of the principles. I cannot move away from my principles.

Talking on the phone with a leading news agency former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and former MP Muzaffar Hussain Baig said, “I have conveyed my decision to the party president Mehbooba Mufti this evening.”

He said that the agenda and purpose for which we had formed PDP, PDP has completely gone away from that purpose today.

I have tried to ignore many things. I have always given priority to maintaining unity in the organization.

He said that the incident happened to me when there was no discussion with me for the formation of PAGD, I was not even told.

It was decided to participate in the District Development Council elections and I came to know through newspapers. I am the patron of the PDP, I have played an important role in drafting the PDP’s constitution.

Seats were aligned with PAGD, but what did PDP get? Most of the seats are with the National Conference, PDP has become a party running behind NC.

We want the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, why should we show them false dreams. Say something first and then something later, it is not my nature.

I cannot break away from my principles. Therefore, I have decided to withdraw from PDP itself.

When asked about future plans, he said that I will announce my next step only after consulting my colleagues and colleagues.

It is noteworthy that Muzaffar Hussain Baig has been feeling neglected in PDP for the last six years. There was also speculation that he would break away from the PDP and form a new PDP, but Baig never openly denied them.

When the PDP split about two years ago, it was also said at the time that Baig would soon replace Mehbooba Mufti as the party president and become the president himself.

To keep his hold within the organization, Mehbooba Mufti appointed Muzaffar Hussain Baig as a party patron. He never agreed with Mehbooba Mufti’s modalities and rhetoric of running a coalition government with the BJP.

He is also blaming Mehbooba Mufti for the implementation of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act.

Baig said many times that the constitutional position of Jammu and Kashmir would never have changed if Mehbooba Mufti did not make controversial provocative statements about Article 370 and the national flag.
