New Prices Of Domestic Gas Will Be Determined On October 1

New prices of domestic gas will be determined on October 1, the price is likely to increase by 60 percent: ONGC.

The price of natural gas in the international market is rising. Its impact will soon be visible on the gas produced from domestic mining fields as well.

The new prices of domestic gas will be decided by the government on October 1 this year.

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), the largest state-owned company in the oil-gas mining sector, said that this time a 60 percent increase in their prices is almost certain.

Giving information about the company’s annual financial results, ONGC CMD Subhash Kumar said that in January-March 2021, ONGC has sold crude oil at the rate of $ 58.05 per barrel.

Whereas the sales rate in the same quarter of the last financial year was $ 49.01 per barrel.

The company’s revenue was impacted by the fall in crude and gas prices in the first six months of the last financial year.

But now the prices are also increasing and the government has also ended the subsidy given to the customers.

A part of this subsidy had to be borne by the state oil companies. By the way, gas prices have been quite low till last quarter.

The government fixes the price of domestic gas every six months. In the January-March quarter, the gas rate stood at $1.79 per mmBtu (per million British thermal units).

ONGC posted a net profit of Rs 6,734 crore for the quarter ended March 2021 on account of costlier crude and cessation of petroleum subsidy to domestic consumers.

Kumar said the company will make a fresh investment of Rs 29,500 crore this year.
