Terrorist-criminal relationship: NIA raids 16 locations in Punjab and Rajasthan, detaining 6 individuals.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday raided 16 locations in Punjab and Rajasthan and detained six people for questioning as part of its ongoing investigation against the nexus of Khalistan and organized criminals.
NIA raids are going on at 16 locations, including 14 locations in Punjab and two in Rajasthan.
The NIA investigation involves efforts to dismantle the nexus between terrorists, gangsters, and drug smugglers. NIA aims to destroy the infrastructure of Nexus including funding channels.
Since Tuesday morning, the agency has been conducting searches in close cooperation with the state police forces.
The places being searched are residential and other premises of the suspects have links with Khalistani supporters and people involved in criminal nexus.
NIA said, “NIA is conducting searches at 14 locations in Punjab and 2 locations in Rajasthan in the ongoing investigation against Khalistan and organized criminal nexus.”
“Following the searches, six persons are being investigated for involvement in terrorist activities.”
The six people selected for questioning are allegedly involved in terrorist activities and are in close touch with some fugitive designated Khalistani terrorists through social media networks and other means of communication.
The move comes nearly two months after NIA Director General Dinkar Gupta raised clear and wide-ranging issues during a meeting with FBI Director Christopher A Ray in December 2023.
He raised the issue of activities of terrorist-organized criminal networks, the ongoing investigation in the US into the attack on the Indian Consulate in San Francisco, and cyber-terrorism and various types of cyber crimes in the meeting.
Gupta then highlighted the active nexus between terrorist organizations and terrorist elements with members of organized criminal syndicates, which was also spreading in the US.
