Nishanka Scored The First Century Of His ODI Career

Nishanka scored the first century of his ODI career in the 15th ODI.

In the ODI series being played at home against Australia, hosts Sri Lanka have taken the lead on the basis of a stellar performance.

In the third match, Australia, batting first, scored 291 for 6 on the basis of half-centuries from captain Aaron Finch and Travis Head.

In reply, Sri Lanka took a 2-1 lead by chasing opener Pathum Nishanka’s blazing century for the loss of 4 wickets in 48.3 overs.

In the third match of the five-match ODI series, Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. The team started poorly and opener David Warner returned after scoring 9 runs.

After this Mitchell Starc also got out after scoring 10 runs. Captain Finch along with Marnus Labuschagne managed the team and scored a half-century.

Travis Head scored 70 runs in the lower order to take the team to 291 runs.

Nishanka scored the first century of his ODI career in the 15th ODI and that too gave the team the lead in the series.

Hitting 3 fours in 65 balls, he completed his fifty, while in 123 balls with the help of 7 fours and 1 six, he completed his first ODI century.

Nishanka was dismissed after playing an innings of 137 runs in 147 balls with the help of 11 fours and 2 sixes.

170 runs partnership with Mendis.

Nishanka along with Kusal Mendis added 170 runs for the second wicket and took the match away from Australia’s grip.

In this partnership, both the batsmen fiercely took the news of the bowlers. Ushanka scored 80 and Mendis scored 87 runs.

Apart from this, a 43-run partnership with Dhananjay de Silva for the third wicket also almost assured the team’s victory.

Lead in the series.

Australia took the lead in the series after winning the first ODI by 2 wickets. After this, in the second rain-interrupted match, Sri Lanka came back to register a 26-run win.

After winning the third ODI by 6 wickets, the hosts took a 2-1 lead. The fourth match is to be played on Tuesday, June 21, where the team will aim to win the series.
