Pahalgam terror attack Updates: A special NIA court extends the custody of two accused in the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26. Meanwhile, security forces bust terrorist hideouts in Poonch and continue operations in Kishtwar forest.
Custody of the two accused was extended by 10 more days, and they were arrested by the NIA on June 22. A special court in Jammu on Monday extended the custody of two accused linked to the terror attack in Pahalgam in April by another 10 days to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). These two defendants, Parvez and Bashir Ahmed Jothar are charged with providing sanctuary to terrorists from Pakistan.
The NIA said that both the accused were arrested on June 22. First, they were produced in the local court, where they got 5 days of custody. Later the case was transferred to the special NIA court. During interrogation, the accused revealed the names of three Pakistani terrorists involved in the attack, who were associated with the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba.
The NIA claims that Parvez and Bashir gave the terrorists food, lodging, and other support while they were housed in a makeshift hut in Pahalgam’s Hill Park.
In this attack on April 22, terrorists killed 26 people, mostly tourists, and injured 16 others, selectively targeting them based on religion. It was one of the most horrific terror attacks in recent years. The NIA is now investigating the terror network spread in the tourist center of Kashmir in this case.
