Jammu and Kashmir police have claimed to have arrested an overground worker of Jaish-e-Mohammed from the Draghmulla area of the North Kupwara district of North Kashmir.
A grenade and cash worth Rs 3.5 lakh has been recovered from his possession after searching. Police are questioning the overground worker.
The police received information from reliable sources that an overground worker of Jaish-e-Mohammed was heading to Sopore to buy weapons for the terrorists.
As soon as the information was received, a team of police and army blocked the Sopore Highway.
When the underground worker passed from there, he was terrified by giving the police a pass. Before he could escape from there, the police took him there.
The overground worker has been identified as Mushtaq Ahmed Dar son of Sahil Mushtaq, resident of Babgund Handwara.
A Chinese pistol and cash of about three and a half lakh rupees were also recovered from his possession after searching. The police have registered a case against him.
He is being interrogated as to whom he was going to buy weapons in Sopore and where to buy the weapon.
Currently, the police have not given any additional information in this regard. They said that raids could be conducted in Sopore on an interrogation basis.
