Police Accused Of Suppressing Gang Rape Case In Hyderabad

Police accused of suppressing a gang rape case in Hyderabad, NCPCR asked why there was a delay of three days in registering the FIR.

In Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana, the police are under the scanner for laxity in the gang-rape case of a minor.

Taking cognizance, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has sought an explanation from the police as to why there was a delay of three days in registering the FIR in this case.

This case has created a political storm in Telangana. The BJP has demanded a CBI probe, alleging that the accused include an MLA of Owaisi’s party AIMIM and the state home minister’s grandson.

At the same time, the police have categorically denied the allegations against the grandson of the Home Minister. The government said that no leniency is being taken in this matter.

The NCPCR found that the incident took place on Saturday, May 28, while the FIR, in this case, was registered on May 31.

The police have been asked to submit a detailed report in seven days from the date of receipt of the letter.

In this report, proof of age of the minor victim, copy of FIR, copy of victim’s statement, copy of charge sheet, the present status of the investigation, and action taken in the case will have to be given.

In a letter to the police, the NCPCR expressed concern and also asked it to ensure that the identity of the victim is not revealed during the investigation.

According to the police, the girl’s father had lodged a complaint on May 31 that the victim was in a state of shock. She is unable to tell what happened to him.

The NCPCR has demanded the registration of an FIR against a pub in the city for allowing entry to minors.

On May 28, five people including three minors had raped her. Earlier she had attended the party in the pub.

Three include two minors in custody.

The police have identified the five accused. So far, three accused including two minors have been taken into custody. The arrested accused was identified as Saduddin Malik (18).

A minor is the son of an influential person. Both the juveniles will be produced in the juvenile court. Police are on the lookout for the other accused Omair Khan (18) and another juvenile.

BJP demands CBI inquiry from Chief Minister.

Telangana BJP President and MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar, in an open letter to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, demanded the arrest of the culprits as well as a CBI inquiry into the matter.

TRS working president said strict action should be taken.

Ruling TRS working president and Telangana minister KT Rama Rao on Friday urged the state Home Minister, Director General of Police (DGP), and Hyderabad city police commissioner to take immediate and stern action in the matter.

The guilty will not be spared.

Telangana Home Minister said that there is no leniency in this matter. He said that the state police department works without any pressure. The guilty will not be spared.

Accused seen in CCTV footage.

In the CCTV footage going viral on internet media, the girl is purportedly seen standing with the suspected assailants outside the pub where she met them.

The boys had offered to drop her home. Instead, he was assaulted inside the car. The attackers took turns raping her while the other stood guard outside the car.

Police investigation revealed that after committing the crime, the victim was dropped back near the pub.
