The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested seven people in connection with the murder of a person during the May violence after the assembly elections in West Bengal last year.
Officials gave this information on Monday.
Pranab Barkait, Pritam Roy Sarkar, Ratan Roy Sarkar, Liton Sheel, Liton Bhowmik, Nakul Roy Sarkar, and Vishwajit Burman were arrested from Cooch Behar, Jaipur, and Kolkata after constant surveillance.
The CBI took over the case on August 19, 2021, on the orders of the Calcutta High Court.
The agency said in a statement that it was alleged that around 2 pm on May 4, 2021, Sridhar Das was brutally thrashed by unidentified persons with sticks and iron rods.
