Preparing To Give One Crore Vaccine Doses In A Day: Dr. VK Paul

Preparing to give one crore vaccine doses a day: Dr. VK Paul.

Giving information about the vaccine and vaccination status in the country, Dr. VK Paul, a member of NITI Aayog, said that we are preparing to give 1 crore doses in a day.

It will be possible in a few weeks, we will have to prepare for it. We have made 43 lakh vaccine doses in a single day in the past.

We have to bring it to 73 lakhs in the next 3 weeks. We must create a system to achieve this. We are in contact with companies.

Constant decisions are being taken by the central government regarding the vaccine. This process has been accelerated. The concerns of the companies are being resolved. They have to apply formally. We will work out a solution soon.

There was a boom in the introduction of children’s vaccines.

On vaccination of children, Dr. VK Paul said that Covaxin has got permission, they will start clinical trials on children, I think they are going to systematically by the age of 2 years.

I have been told that the Serum Institute wants to start a clinical trial of Novavax on children. 1-2 countries have started doing so now.

The WHO has not yet made any recommendations to cover the population of children with the vaccine in general because a large number of children have very mild diseases.

If we go to public health with the statistics of deaths on it, then it is a low priority.

Preparing to give one crore vaccine doses a day: Center is supporting states regarding the vaccine. Dr. VK Paul said that it is not correct to say that the vaccine supply has stopped.

The truth is that out of the available production of the vaccine, a separate portion is available to non-governmental channels.

Including the state government, which can be used by the state government to immunize people according to a flexible approach.

He said that apart from this, a special channel was created for the remaining 50 percent, where the state governments and private sector can purchase and supply vaccines.

He said that whichever state buys from the private sector, the state governments have to decide to which group it is to be given and taken forward.

States know our vaccine production capacity. A new system was introduced when states said that they wanted flexibility and participation in the purchase of vaccines.

In which the central government would purchase 50 percent of the domestically produced vaccines, whereas for states over 45 years of age group is free.
