Project Launched To Convert Temple Jewelery Into Gold Nuggets

Project launched to convert 27,236.600 grams of jewelery of Irukkankudi Mariamman Temple into gold nuggets.

27,236.600 grams of jewelery of Irukkankudi Mariamman Temple in Virudhunagar district was handed over to the bank officials in the presence of the Minister.

This jewelery was given under the scheme of melting the jewelery of the temples under the Department of Hindu Religious Affairs into gold nuggets and depositing it in the banks.

District Collector Meghanatha Reddy presided over the proceedings at the Irukkankudi Mariamman Temple premises in Virudhunagar District under the chairmanship of Justice R.Mala.

The Minister of Revenue KKS. S. R Ramachandran and Sekar Babu, Minister of State for Hindu Religious Affairs, attended and handed over the gold jewelery to the Sattur State Bank Branch Manager.

The project launched to convert Temple jewelry: Minister Sehgar Babu said that as per the CM’s order, Tamil Nadu would be divided into three zones.

The unused Sami jewelery in the temples in these zones would be smelted and turned into pure gold at the Central Government-owned smelter in Mumbai.

He said the gold nuggets would be deposited in banks for 5 years and the restoration of the respective temples would be done with the interest earned on it.

In particular, 27 thousand 236.600 grams of gold taken from Irukkankudi Mariamman temple will be melted down and deposited in the bank to earn 24 lakh interest per year.

He said that the government of Tamil Nadu is operating in the manner of the divine property belonging to the Lord and with the quality mantra of being transparent.

The Chennai High Court has refused to intervene in the Tamil Nadu government’s order.
