Mizoram Chief Secretary Lalununmawiya Chuango said in a press conference later in the meeting, that Mizoram will withdraw its security contingent from the Assam border as a unanimous decision.

With this, the blockage on National Highway number 306 from Assam will be removed. There is a possibility that vehicular movement on the highway will begin on Sunday late evening or Monday.

The highway was stopped after a dispute on 17 October

People from Lailapur and other villages in Assam’s Cachar district have also imposed an economic blockade of Mizoram since 28 October.

The national highway has already been stopped before this. The people of Assam allege that Mizoram has occupied Assam’s land and deployed security forces there.

The dispute began on 17 October when some anti-social elements broke down the border huts and other temporary constructions. After this, the highway was stopped.
