Results Declared In 292 Seats In AP Panchayat Elections

Results declared in 292 seats in Andhra Pradesh Panchayat elections, 44 sarpanches elected unopposed.

The results were declared on Tuesday for 292 out of 296 sarpanch posts for the first phase of the Gram Panchayat elections in Anakapalli Revenue Division in Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh.

According to the State Election Commission, a total of 44 candidates have been elected to unopposed sarpanch posts. Gram panchayat elections across the state will be held in four phases. The last phase election will be held on 21 February.

The Election Commission said that out of the 44 sarpanches elected unopposed, seven from Rambali Mandal, followed by six from Batchayapeta, five each from Achyutapuram.

Chedikada and K Kottapadu Mandal, four from V Madugula, three each from Chodavaram and Mungapaka, Devarapalli, There are two candidates each from Kasimotata. Apart from this, two seats of Anakapalli Mandal, one each in Chodavaram and Kasimkot Mandal, are yet to get results.

Let us know that in the first phase elections for 2,723 panchayats held in the state on Tuesday, 81.42 percent voting was done.

The SEC said that polling started at 6.30 am and ended at 3.30 pm while counting of votes started at 4 pm. Voting was held to elect 20,157 ward members. With the completion of the first phase, voting will be held in three other phases by 21 February.

According to the Panchayat Raj Department, elections were to be held for 3,249 posts of panchayat sarpanches. However, 525 was elected unopposed and no nomination was filed for a village in the Nellore district.

7,506 candidates are in the fray for sarpanch posts, while 43,601 candidates are contesting for ward members.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami on Tuesday hit out at AMMK pioneer TTV Dhinakaran, who has recharged his declaration of ‘recovering’ the decision AIADMK post-VK Sasikala’s delivery, saying the individuals who go behind him will be “left hanging.”

The AIADMK Joint Facilitator, tending to a political race rally here, referred to the case of 18 excluded AIADMK rebel MLAs who favored Dhinakaran before, to commute home his point.

The MLAs faithful to Dhinakaran were precluded when they defied Palaniswami in 2017 after he consolidated his drove group with that of his current appointee O Panneerselvam.
