Roger Federer And Novak Djokovic Reach Quarter-finals

Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic reach the quarter-finals of Wimbledon 2021.

Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer and world number one Novak Djokovic advanced to the quarter-finals after winning their respective men’s singles matches at Wimbledon in London on Monday.

Federer, eyeing his 21st singles Grand Slam title, defeated Lorenzo Sonego 7-5, 6-4, 6-2 in a rain-stopped match.

The match was stopped for some time due to rain but, later the match was restarted by closing the roof.

The start of the first set did not go well for Federer. He lost his first game in this set. But in the fifth game, there was a tough fight between the two.

But Federer, the Italian players could not break Sonego’s serve. In this game, Sonego was serving and Federer got three break points but, he could not win the game.

Sonego already broke Federer’s serve at breakpoint after scoring 5-4 and returned to the set at 5-5. Then Federer could hardly win the next game too.

Sonego was serving and allowed Federer to win at the fourth break-point. However, Federer came back from 0-30 in the next game to win the set 7-5 in the first set point itself.

However, Federer did not have much trouble in winning the second set as compared to the first set and he won the set 6-4 on the first set point itself.

In the third set, Federer easily won the first four games, but the opposition player also tried to stop Federer from progressing by winning two games.

However, Federer won the set and the match with a score of 6-2 on the first match point. The match lasted for two hours and 14 minutes.

At the same time, defending champion Djokovic scored points on each service to enter the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam event for the 50th time with an easy win at Wimbledon.

Djokovic defeated 17th seed Christian Garin 6-2, 6-4, 6-2. He has reached the quarterfinals for the 12th time at Wimbledon.

He has moved up to a joint third place with Arthur Gorey, behind Roger Federer (19) and Jimmy Connors (14), in the list of most last-eight players at Wimbledon.

Barty won: Ashleigh Barty, the world’s number one player in the women’s section, managed to reach the quarter-finals of Wimbledon for the first time.

She defeated French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova 7-5, 6-3
