Superstar striker and Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo equaled former Iran striker Ali Dei’s record for most international goals, scoring both goals in a 2-2 draw against France.

With this draw, Portugal also reached the last-16 of the Euro Cup. Ronaldo now has 109 international goals similar to Ali’s. He scored both goals on penalties.

He now has 14 goals in the Euro Cup. Ronaldo scored his first goal for Portugal 17 years ago at Euro 2004 when his team lost 1–2 to Greece in the group stage.

The match saw fierce competition between the two teams.

While Portugal’s team is dependent on Ronaldo, France has plenty of strikers but, except for Benzema, they could not penetrate Portugal’s defense well.

Portugal got a penalty in the 31st minute and Ronaldo did not take long to convert it into a goal.

Then in the first half of Injury time (45+2nd minute), France got a penalty, then Karim Benzema converted it into a goal to level the score 1-1.

At the beginning of the second half, Benzema scored his second goal in the 47th minute to take the team 2-1 in the match. Benzema has scored for the first time in the tournament.

He could not score in Euro 2008 and 2012. This is his first goal for France since October 2015.

Meanwhile, Portugal got a penalty due to France’s mistake, and this time too Ronaldo converted it into a goal and equalized the score.

However, after this, both the teams could not score any goal and the match ended in a draw. Portugal finished third in Group F, Germany second, and France first.

Germany played a draw with Hungary.
