Section-144 implemented in Shimoga till Friday morning, the minister said – the killing of Bajrang Dal worker was well planned.

Karnataka Home Minister Araga Gyanendra said on Thursday that the Bajrang Dal worker was murdered in Shimoga in a planned manner.

Section-144 implemented in Shimoga: The accused arrested in this case has a criminal history.

After chairing a meeting with Eastern Range Inspector General Thiagarajan, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Raman Gupta, Gyanendra said, the accused had hatched a conspiracy for a long time.

It is a planned murder. Those arrested had criminal cases and are habitual offenders.

“We will appoint a special prosecutor and request the court to expedite the trial to finish the matter at the earliest,” he said.

Criminal cases are pending against the accused in Kota and Dodapet police stations. Taking cognizance of the matter, the Home Minister has ordered an inquiry.

Action will be taken on the basis of that report. Gyanendra said the situation in Shimoga was peaceful and under control.

Police have arrested eight people in connection with the murder and are interrogating them. All aspects including the involvement of communal organizations are being looked into.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of the district Selvamani R announced that Section 144 has been extended till Friday morning.

Harsh, a 26-year-old Bajrang Dal worker, was murdered with sharp weapons in Shimoga on Sunday night.

Harsh was the only boy in his family. He is survived by two sisters and parents. His family is getting financial help from every section of society.

So far, the help of Rs 16 lakh has been received, although the family has not sought financial help.

BJP Yuva Morcha President Tejashwi Surya also met Harsh’s family members and urged the government to take the matter as a terrorist retreat.

He said that our government will ensure capital punishment to the killers.
