Senior Indigo employees will be sent on unpaid leave, Airline in crisis due to Corona epidemic.

Senior  employees of airline company Indigo will compulsorily go on four days of non-paid leave (LWP) every month until September.

The airline company gave this information on Monday. Actually, due to the second wave of Kovid-19 epidemic, the number of passengers has come down, so the company has taken this step.

IndiGo’s Senior Vice President (Flight Operations) Ashim Mitra sent an e-mail to the airline’s pilots, stating, “The second wave of epidemic is difficult for all of us.”

Due to this the passenger numbers have come down. That’s why we have had to cut down on commercial flights.

LWP system will be implemented by the airline for all the employees. It will be 1.5 to 4 days depending on the employee group. Ashim Mitra gave this information.

Please note that employees falling in B and A-bands are not included in this. Most of the airline’s employees are in the B and A-band.

This is the lowest band. Mitra said that “all pilots will take three days’ LWP for the next three months from June 1, 2021.”

It is worth noting that in 2020 also, IndiGo had asked its employees to take leave without pay, implementing the same policy. It suspended the decision only a few months after air travel showed signs of improvement.

IndiGo is not the only major airline to take such steps. On May 30, SpiceJet said it would pay salaries for employees on June 1, but would include a graded moratorium of up to 35 percent for some.
