Shaheed Randhir Verma: Dhanbad police salute their hero, Stripped AK-47 from Khalistani militants alone.

The posthumous Ashoka Chakra winner Shaheed Randhir Prasad Verma was remembered by the people of Dhanbad on his 30th martyrdom day on Sunday.

The District Police Force gave him an armed salute at Randhir Verma Chowk in the presence of the district administration and the senior police officials.

The melodious tune was played and a 2-minute silence was maintained.

Martyr’s wife and former Union Minister of State Professor Rita Verma were present at his statue site in Randhir Verma Chowk. After giving the salute, the guests paid homage to his statue.

Youth need to learn from Randhir

Professor Varma, the wife of late officer Randhir Prasad Verma, who is an officer of the Indian Police Service, said that Randhir has given his best sacrifice for the country.

Everyone should learn from this sacrifice. She also tells her children the valor of Randhir, his simplicity, and his work done for the nation. The youth also need to learn from them.

DC-SSP pays tribute

After paying tribute, Deputy Commissioner of Dhanbad Umashankar Singh said that the statue of Randhir Verma will be beautified. Work on it will start soon.

The proposal has been approved. Among those who saluted the martyr were several officers including SSP Aseem Vikrant Minj, ACP R Ram Kumar, ASP Manoj Swargiyar, SDO Surendra Kumar.

Leaders of several political parties, including BJP leaders Ganesh Mishra, Sanjay Jha, Bhrigunath Bhagat, Councilor Ashok Pal, Kishore Kumar, president of Randhir Verma Memorial Society, were also present during this period.

The special event was not held due to Corona

Please tell that every year a bhajan program has been organized on the martyrdom day of Randhir Varma. But nothing has been done because of this coronavirus.

Martyred on 3 January 1991

On 3 January 1991, Randhir Verma, the then SP of Dhanbad, was killed in an encounter with three Khalistani terrorists from Punjab who came to rob the Bank of India Hirapur branch.

He was also paid tribute at the Bank of India branch. After getting information about the bank robbery, he left alone without taking force.

Reached the bank and confronted the terrorists. In this encounter, he was martyred in the encounter. However, Randhir also killed the terrorists before he died.
