Shikhar Dhawan Will Be The Captain Of India Against West Indies

Shikhar Dhawan will be the captain of India in the ODI series against West Indies: Rohit and Virat will be rested.

Veteran opener Shikhar Dhawan has been named the captain of the Indian team in the 3-match ODI series against West Indies starting July 22 in Port of Spain.

Regular captain Rohit Sharma has been rested from this series.

Apart from them, veteran batsman Virat Kohli, pacer Jasprit Bumrah, all-rounder Hardik Pandya and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant will also not be part of the series.

The Senior Selection Committee of the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) selected the 16-member Indian team for the ODIs. All three ODIs will be played in Port of Spain, Trinidad.

After the ODI series, the Indian team will play five T20 Internationals against West Indies and America for which the team will be announced.

36-year-old Shikhar Dhawan played the ODI series against West Indies this year. He has been running out of the Test team since 2018 while from the T20 team from July 2021.

Dhawan, who made his ODI debut in 2010, has played 149 matches in this format so far and has scored a total of 6284 runs with the help of 17 centuries.

Squad: Shikhar Dhawan (capt), Ravindra Jadeja (vice-captain), Rituraj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, Deepak Hooda, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan (wk).

Sanju Samson (wk), Shardul Thakur, Yuzvendra Chahal, Akshar Patel, Avesh Khan, Famous Krishna, Mohammad Siraj, and Arshdeep Singh.

IND vs ENG 1st T20I: Indian team to avenge Test defeat, Rohit Sharma will take over command of T20 team.

The Indian team will now play a 3-match T20 series (IND vs ENG T20I) against England. The first match of the series will be played at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Southampton on 7th July i.e. Thursday.

After the defeat in the rescheduled 5th Test at Edgbaston, Team India will now aim to start the T20 series with a win.

The Indian team lost by 7 wickets in the 5th Test match of the series at Edgbaston, Birmingham. With this, the 5-match Test series between the two countries ended in a 2-2 draw.

This series was to be completed last year itself but it was postponed due to the ever-increasing corona cases in the Indian camp.
