SIA anti-terror crackdown 2025: SIA files case against key Hizbul operatives and drug traffickers operating from Pakistan and within India.
Significant move against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir: SIA charges 11 people, including a leader of Hezbollah. The State Investigation Agency (SIA) has tightened its grip on terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. The SIA has filed a chargesheet against 11 accused including Hizbul Mujahideen supremo Syed Mohammad Yousuf Shah alias Syed Salahuddin in connection with the narco-terrorism case here.
SIA, Jammu first registered the case in 2022 and investigations revealed a well-organized network of terrorist collaborators and couriers, a spokesperson of the agency said. These networks were helping the banned organization by helping to raise money for drug trafficking and terrorist activities.
Apart from Salahuddin, a resident of Sibug village in Budgam in central Kashmir, who is currently active from across the border, another Hezbollah militant, Basharat Ahmed Bhat from the Khan Sahib area of Budgam, is also named in the charge sheet.

It conducts its activities from Rawalpindi, Pakistan, the agency spokesman said. The others were identified as Khalid Hussain of Rajouri, Mohammad Shokit of Poonch, Javid Ahmed Rather of Budgam, Manzoor Ahmed and Asif Rehman Reshi of Srinagar, and Sahil Kumar, Chain Singh, Sandeepak Singh, and Harpreet Singh of Jammu.
The spokesperson said the network has emerged as a key channel for financing terrorism in the region as per investigations. He said many of these people have acquired considerable wealth from the sale of narcotics despite having legitimate sources of income.
Drugs were trafficked into the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan using a systematic mechanism, according to the SIA. The proceeds from the sale of these drugs were deposited in the account of one of the accused on the instructions of Pakistan-based terrorist Bhat, the spokesman said.
He said the accused persons were allegedly prominent drug dealers responsible for the distribution of drugs among local youths. Some had allegedly employed other accused to sell drugs to their customers, the spokesperson said.
Conspiracy to disrupt peaceful atmosphere
He said the investigation reveals that a major conspiracy is being hatched by Pakistan-sponsored Hizbul Mujahideen to destabilize the peaceful atmosphere of Jammu and Kashmir by promoting terrorist activities.
