Srinagar Mock Drill Sparks War Preparedness Moves Nationwide
Srinagar Mock Drill: As tensions rise, mock drills in Srinagar’s Dal Lake simulate emergency boat capsizing and airstrike alerts, reviving wartime readiness.
At Srinagar’s Dal Lake, SDRFs were trained in boats as part of preparing for mock drills. Given the possibility of war with Pakistan, the exercise to prepare the people of the country for it has started. In this connection, the Union Home Ministry has asked all the states and union territories to conduct a mock civil defense drill on Wednesday regarding the new and complex threats.
This includes activating the siren system in the cities to warn of air strikes and giving necessary training to common people and students for security. In this sequence, the effect of the mock drill has also started to be seen in Dal Lake, Srinagar.
‘We got orders to conduct a mock drill only yesterday’
In this regard, Arif Hussain, a soldier of Jammu and Kashmir SDRF, said that yesterday, we got an order to conduct a mock drill regarding boat capsizing. We have every piece of equipment needed for this. We are following the order issued by the Home Ministry here.
In this, we have to show the officers how to straighten the boat if it capsizes. All devices are associated.. During the drill, we will first have to turn the boat upside down, and then we will climb on it and straighten it. We received the orders only yesterday.
Omar Abdullah, the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, stated at the same time that the SDRF mock practice has nothing to do with Pahalgam. Two Shikaras sank in the last several days as a result of the unexpectedly strong evening winds. To prevent the loss of valuable lives as a result of such an incident, we have requested that the SDRF team conduct an investigation.
The last time it was done in 1971
Such a drill was last done in 1971 when there was a war with Pakistan on both the eastern and western fronts. During the war, Civil Defence played an important role in taking the general public to safe places and maintaining a smooth supply of essential goods.
