Sudan Coup: coup feared in Sudan, ministers and government officials detained.

The country is heading for a coup amid weeks of tension between the military and the civilian government.

Sudan’s military has arrested most of the cabinet members and a large number of pro-government party leaders, according to Reuters.

The Sudanese Professionals Association, the country’s main pro-democracy group, has called on people to take to the streets to counter the military coup.

The group has said that internet and phone signals are not working in the country.

Monday’s arrest comes after weeks of escalating tensions between Sudan’s civilian and military leaders. In the recent past, both the camps have been protesting heavily on the streets.

The coup attempt failed in September and fueled extremely conservative Islamists who want a military government against those who ousted autocratic former ruler Omar al-Bashir after widespread protests.

Officials on condition of anonymity confirmed the arrests of five government figures.

Officials said the detained government members included Industry Minister Ibrahim al-Sheikh, Information Minister Hamza Baloul.

Also the members of the country’s ruling transitional body Mohamed al-Fiqi Suleiman and Faisal Mohamed Saleh, media adviser to Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok.

Bangladesh: The main accused confessed to being involved in the Peerganj violence, told how the conspiracy was hatched.

The prime accused and his aide have confessed to their involvement in the violence in Boro Karimpur village of Peerganj, Bangladesh.

They arrested 24-year-old Saikat Mandal on Sunday confessed in court that he was involved in the attack and also admitted that he had posted on social media to incite violence.

Rangpur Senior Judicial Magistrate Delwar Hussain recorded the statement of the accused on Sunday.

Mandal, who is an expelled leader of the local Bangladesh Students’ League, and one of his 36-year-old aides Mohammad Robiul Islam, who is an imam at a mosque, were named as prime accused in the case.

70 families have been affected due to this attack.
