Supreme Court gets two new Judges, Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra, and Senior Advocate KV Vishwanathan took oath.

Supreme Court Two New Judges: Andhra Pradesh High Court Chief Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Senior Advocate KV Vishwanathan took oath as judges of the Supreme Court.

At the same time, all the judges of the Supreme Court have been present in this swearing-in ceremony. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud administered the oath to both judges.

The Supreme Court Collegium had on May 16 recommended the elevation of Prashant Kumar Mishra and Vishwanathan as high court judges to the Centre.

The new law minister had announced.

The warrant of appointment of Justice Mishra and Justice Vishwanathan was issued from the office of President Draupadi Murmu on Thursday.

Their appointments were announced by new Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal on Twitter. And today his swearing-in ceremony took place.

The Collegium, headed by CJI Chandrachud and Justices SK Kaul, KM Joseph, Ajay Rastogi, and Sanjiv Khanna, had decided to recommend the names of Justices Mishra and Vishwanathan for appointment as Supreme Court judges.

Vishwanathan will become Chief Justice in 2030.

Senior Advocate KV Vishwanathan was born on May 26, 1996, and will hold office till May 25, 2031, upon his appointment as a Supreme Court Judge.

Justice Vishwanathan will become the Chief Justice on the retirement of Justice JB Pardiwala on August 11, 2030, and will continue in the post till May 25, 2031.

Vishwanathan is the 10th judge of the Supreme Court.

Vishwanathan has become the tenth name in the list of lawyers to be directly appointed to the Supreme Court from the Bar Council.

He will be the fourth person to become the Chief Justice of India after Justices SM Sikri, UU Lalit, and PS Narasimha.

Viswanathan completed a five-year law degree from Coimbatore Law College, Bharathiar University, and joined the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu in 1988.

Vishwanathan became a senior advocate in 2009.

KV Viswanathan has practiced in the Supreme Court for more than two decades. Following this, he was designated as Senior Advocate in 2009.

Vishwanathan, former Additional Solicitor General, has been vocal in fighting on a variety of subjects including constitutional law, criminal law, commercial law, insolvency law, and arbitration.

His stature as an eminent member of the Bar has been recognized by the Supreme Court in several cases where he was appointed to assist the court as an amicus curiae.

Prashant became the Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court in 2021.

Prashant Kumar Mishra, Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, was appointed as a judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court on December 10, 2009.

After which he was made the Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on October 13, 2021.

The Collegium, in its resolution, stated that the Chhattisgarh High Court has no representation in the present composition of the Supreme Court of India.

He has been a judge of the High Court for more than 13 years.

The motion states that Justice Mishra has served as a High Court judge for more than thirteen years.

At the same time, he also said that Prashant is at serial number 21 in the all-India seniority list of High Court judges, so his name is appointed as a Supreme Court judge.

However, at present, the Supreme Court has a sanctioned strength of 34 judges and is functioning with 32 judges.
