Telangana has become the first state in the country to start trials of delivering vaccines through drones to health centers in remote areas.

Under the state government’s ‘Aakash Se Aushadhi’ project, this two-day trial started on Thursday in Vikarabad by District Magistrate K. Nikhila did it?

Two-three kg boxes were sent to the primary health center located 500 meters away from Vikarabad district hospital through drones.

The drone took off at an altitude of 400 feet. Nikhila said, ‘This is the first time in the country that drone technology is being tested to deliver the vaccine to remote areas.’

Six flights will be operated daily in this test to be held in three phases. Each drone will transport 175 vaccines in temperature-controlled boxes.

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Telangana Industrial and Information Technology Minister KT Rama Rao will formally launch the project on September 11.

Stop immersion of Plaster of Paris idols in Hussain Sagar Lake: Telangana High Court

The Telangana High Court has directed the state government not to allow idols made of plaster of Paris to be immersed in Hussain Sagar Lake and other large ponds in Hyderabad.

A bench of Acting Chief Justice MS Ramachandra Rao and Justice T. Vinod Kumar, after hearing a contempt petition.

The bench said the people should seek permission from the government to immerse Ganesh idols made of plaster of Paris in Baby Pound or any other pond constructed by the GHMC.

This will not cause water pollution in the main water body.

The High Court gave several directions and disposed of the contempt case. The court said that small and eco-friendly statues should be encouraged so that the environment is not affected.

Apart from this, the tradition should be carried out in a simple and easy way without overcrowding.

The bench, after hearing the petition, directed the government to allow immersion of Ganesh idols made of POP in small or other ponds constructed by GMCH so that the water of the main reservoirs is not contaminated.

“Immersion of non-POP idols may be allowed on the other side of Hussain Sagar lake,” the bench said. Immersion can be done at PV Ghat, Secretariat Road, Sanjeevaiya Park Road, etc.

The Court further said that the use of small and eco-friendly idols should be encouraged to avoid the impact on the environment and also for conducting rituals in a simple and easy manner without gathering large crowds.

A limited number of licenses/permits should be granted by the local/urban bodies to the pandals in their respective areas.

On the last day of immersion of Ganesh idols in Hussain Sagar lake, an adequate number of masks should be made available by the Hyderabad Municipal body free of cost.
