Terrorist Violence Reduced In J&K After Removal Of Article 370

Terrorist violence reduced in Jammu and Kashmir after Article 370 was canceled, so many terrorists killed in 2020.

Terrorist violence in Jammu and Kashmir has decreased significantly since Article 370 was repealed in August 2019. The government has given an example of a decrease in terrorist incidents in the Union Territory in 2020 as compared to 2019.

Union Minister of State for Home Kishan Reddy told the Lok Sabha on Tuesday that about 173 people, including separatists, over-ground activists, stone-pelters, are still in custody in the Union Territory.

The Union Minister told the House that on the instigation of Pakistan, the government has banned 42 organizations for carrying out terrorist activities in India.

Such terrorist organizations include Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Muhammad. In a written reply, Reddy said that in 2020, there were 244 terrorist incidents in Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier in 2019, there were 594 such incidents. 221 terrorists were piled up in 2020 while 157 terrorists were killed a year ago in 2019.

He said that 33 security personnel were martyred and six civilians died in 2020, while in 2019, 27 security personnel were martyred and five civilians lost their lives.

In the Union Territory, there were 15 terrorist incidents in February this year in which eight terrorists were killed.

In a written reply to another question, the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs said, ‘Since August 1, 2019, 627 people, including many separatists, stone-pelters, were detained at different times.

On the basis of regular review and actual status, 454 of these people have been released so far.

He said that the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has stated that there is no arrest under the Public Safety Act in the Union Territory.

230 people have got VIP security.

In a written reply to a question, Union Minister of State for Home Reddy said that 230 people in the country are being provided protection under the ‘Z Plus’, ‘Z’, and ‘Y’ categories by central paramilitary forces like CRPF and CISF.

He said, ‘Security is given on the basis of the assessment of central agencies and it is reviewed from time to time. On the basis of such review, it is decided to continue, withdraw or modify the security cover. ‘
