Waheed-ur-Rehman Para is one of those Kashmiri youth, who until some time ago was said to be a role model of Kashmiri youth, that real Kashmiri youth are like Para who are against terrorist violence in Kashmir, restoration of democracy in Kashmir.

Waheed’s grandfather Abdul Rahman, born in 1988 in Neyra village of Pulwama, known as the bed of terror in South Kashmir, was a staunch Congressman.
He always opposed the separatist policies of the National Conference. He has also been close to Mufti Saeed.
A young Waheed-ur-Rehman Para, who belongs to a family and landowner, has done a diploma in investigative journalism from Boston University, USA.
Para, who holds a master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from the Islamic University of Science and Technology, Avantipore, has also received a scholarship from the SIT Graduate Institute, Vermont USA.
Articles of Waheed have been published in national newspapers and in many foreign journals, not only in local newspapers.
After 2008, he suddenly became popular in political corridors from Pulwama to Srinagar and Srinagar to Delhi and the so-called Kashmir specialist intellectual organizations and think tanks.
Waheed, a member of the Australia India Youth Dialogue, used his influence in Pulwama and adjoining areas to connect many youths with him.
The NIA investigation: After the violent demonstrations of the year 2008, the central government started several schemes to channel the energy of the local youth into creative activities.
Sports competitions were also organized in these. Waheed got the full benefit of this. He created his image as a pro-Kashmiri activist who believes in Indian democracy.
After the violent protests in 2010, Waheed Para joined it when Ram Jethmalani reactivated the Kashmir Committee. He was the youngest member of the Kashmir Committee.
Waheed, who served as a bridge between Mehbooba Mufti’s alleged links with terrorists, played a key role in the victory of PDP candidate Dr. Hasib Drabu from the Rajpora constituency in 2014.
Drabu later also became the Finance Minister. Para also played a key role in Mehbooba Mufti’s victory in Anantnag and soon became the chairman of the PDP’s youth unit, Mufti Saeed and Mehbooba Mufti.
The NIA investigation: The game of alliance with terror started under the guise of Khele India:
He was made the secretary of the Sports Council in the PDP-BJP coalition government and also handed over the command of Khelo India to Jammu and Kashmir.
In the guise of Khele India, he collaborated with the separatists to carry forward his real game. He made every effort to use this in the electoral politics of PDP by strengthening the political alliances with terrorists, stonemasons, and separatists.
He also organized an effective youth rally for former Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
