Seeing the security forces coming close to them, the terrorists hiding behind the trees in the dense forests started firing on the security forces.

Army officials asked the terrorists to surrender but they refused to lay down their arms.

Giving information about the start of the encounter on its Twitter handle, the Kashmir Zone Police said that the process of firing from both sides is still going on. Other details are awaited.

An Army jawan was martyred while another was injured in a landmine blast during an operation in the Krishna Ghati sector along the Line of Control in district Poonch.

The injured have been admitted to the Upazila Hospital, Mendhar.

According to the information received from the police, when the army personnel was patrolling near the Line of Control on late Friday night, then these two jawans came in the grip of a landmine.

Both the jawans were seriously injured after the explosion. The fellow soldiers immediately took both of them to the sub-district hospital in Mendhar, but the doctors declared a soldier as a martyr.

The soldier who got martyrdom has been identified as Sepoy Krishna Vaidya. He was serving in the 16 Corps of the Army.

The body of the jawan will be handed over to his battalion after the post-mortem at Mendhar Upazila Hospital today.

At the same time, the condition of the injured jawan is said to be stable.
