UN Acknowledges Al-Qaeda’s Ties With Taliban

UN acknowledges Al-Qaeda’s ties with the Taliban, eyeing the Afghan peace process. The United Nations has said that al Qaeda and the Taliban have deep ties.

A senior UN official acknowledges that Al Qaeda leader Al Zawahiri has close ties to the Taliban.

However, in the Afghan peace process, the US condition was that the Taliban would not have any relationship with any terrorist organization, including Al Qaeda.

The senior official said the Afghan was close to the Taliban and al Qaeda leader Al Zawahiri during the peace talks.

Taliban rejects UN claims

The senior official said that during talks with the United States, the Taliban regularly consulted with al-Qaeda and had offered informal guarantees. He said that the Taliban have retained their historical ties with al-Qaeda.

The United Nations statement comes at a time when it was claimed that there are no relations between al Qaeda and the Taliban.

The Taliban, however, rejected these claims and said that certain intelligence groups were trying to disrupt peace in Afghanistan.

However, during the peace process, the Taliban has consistently denied any ties to terrorist organizations, including al Qaeda.

Iran’s two faces on the Afghan peace process

Meanwhile, US Special Representative for Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad said that Iran is against the Afghan peace process. In a conversation with the US Institute of Peace, Khalilzad said Iran wants the US to engage in the Afghan war.

He said that Iran is not supporting the peace process. Khalilzad quoted Tolo News as saying that I think it is a difficult and difficult task to speak about Iran. He said that Iran actually has two faces.

The Foreign Ministry of Iran supports the Afghan peace process. He talks positively about the peace process. At the same time, another Iran wants to keep America entangled in the Afghan war. He is opposed to the peace process.
