US warship firing on Iranian ships in Persian Gulf, tense situation. The state of tension between the US and Iran is not diminishing.
Three ships from Iran arrived near the US warship patrolling in the Persian Gulf. The warning went unheeded and firing from a US warship.
A US naval spokesman said that his warship USCGC Baranoff was on patrol in the Persian Gulf, when three Iranian ships reached 62 meters.
These ships belonged to the Paramilitary Revolutionary Guard of Iran. The US fired warnings to stop them.
US Navy spokeswoman Commander Rebecca said that earlier her warship also issued warnings by radio and other means, but Iranian ships ignored the warning and began coming closer.
After the firing, Iranian ships made a safe distance. The spokesman said that Iran’s navy must follow international rules and must maintain a safe distance.
Iran has not made any comment in this matter. This is the second time in this month that the Iran and US Navy have come face to face.
